The Department of Library, in association with the Department of English, organised Screen & Speak, a video screening and discussion programme, on 23 July 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Library Reading Hall. The programme featured the inspiring film The Old Man and the Sea, based on the classic novella by Ernest Hemingway.

Following the screening, an interactive discussion session was conducted by Dr. M Avinash, Assistant Professor, Department of English, and Mr. G. Lakshmikanth, Librarian.

The event aimed to foster critical thinking, literary appreciation, and effective communication by engaging students in meaningful discussions through visual storytelling. Following the screening, an interactive discussion session encouraged students to share their interpretations, reflect on the themes of perseverance, resilience, courage, and human dignity, and connect the story's message with real-life experiences. The programme provided an engaging platform for students to develop analytical thinking, communication skills, and a deeper appreciation of literature through cinema.
